These CPU cores can be and are licensed by many major silicon vendors, and they are used in tablets, phones, and many other types of devices and equipment.
Competition
There are a number of competitors to ARM; with an open-CPU-core design, RISC-V is emerging as the main competitor. This is primarily the case in countries like China, which is working to be independent of ARM technology.
One event that fueled this effort was ARM's move to cut ties with Huawei. They did this with no advanced warning, following a ban in the United States due to chip designs that included “technology of U.S. origin." ARM is complying with the latest restrictions set forth by the U.S. government and is having ongoing conversations with appropriate U.S. government agencies to ensure compliance
